Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 August 2026
Cliipyy records your screen and turns it into a link you can share. This page says what that means for your data: what is captured, where it goes, how long it stays, and how to get rid of it.
1. Who is responsible
MHR Consult, 14 rue de Thionville, 75019 Paris, France, is the data controller for the Cliipyy website (cliipyy.com) and the Cliipyy browser extension. For anything on this page, write to privacy@cliipyy.com.
2. What the extension captures — and when
Only after you start a recording, and only what you selected in that moment:
- the browser tab, application window or screen you picked;
- your webcam, if you turned it on;
- your microphone and the audio of the tab being recorded, if you turned them on.
Outside of a recording, the extension captures nothing at all. It does not read the content of the pages you visit, does not inspect your browsing history, and does not send anything about the pages you open. While a recording runs, the only thing it adds to the page is its own overlay — the countdown, the webcam bubble and the control bar — drawn inside an isolated container.
Your browser asks for your permission before any capture starts, and shows an indicator for the whole duration. Stopping the recording ends the capture.
3. What we store, and why
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The recording itself, plus the versions we produce from it (streaming format, thumbnail) | It is the video you asked us to host so that your link works | 60 days, then deleted automatically |
| Title, duration, creation date, and the random identifier that forms the link | To display and serve the video page | With the video |
| A device identifier generated by the extension on your machine, and a session token — we only ever store a hash of that token, never the token itself | To recognise the extension as the author of its own recordings, and to enforce the daily limit that keeps the free service usable | While the extension is installed |
| Technical server logs (IP address, date, requested page) | Security, abuse prevention, diagnosing failures | Short-lived, kept by our hosting provider |
We do not ask for a name, an email address or a payment method to record. We do not build advertising profiles, we run no advertising or analytics trackers on the site, and we never sell your data. Your recordings are not used to train any AI model.
4. Cookies
Only what the service needs to work — no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers:
- a session cookie, required for the site to function securely;
- an author cookie, which remembers that this browser is the one that made a given recording — without an account, it is the only thing that lets you rename, trim or delete your own video later. It stays in your browser; there is no copy of it on our side.
5. Who can see your recordings
Whoever has the link. The identifier in it is long and random, and we do not list your videos anywhere on the site — but a link is not a password: anyone you send it to can pass it on. Share it accordingly, and delete the video when it has done its job.
Our staff does not watch your recordings. Access is limited to what is technically necessary to run the service and to answer a legal request or a report of abuse.
6. Where your data is stored
Recordings are stored with Backblaze B2 (Backblaze Inc., United States), and the application runs on servers rented from our hosting provider in the European Union. Transfers outside the European Economic Area are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. These providers act as processors: they store and serve the files, they do not use them for anything else.
Two other third parties are worth naming, because your browser talks to them directly: Google Fonts serves the typeface used on this website, and Google Sign-In is used only to let the site administrator log in to the back office — never to record.
7. How long we keep things — and how to delete
- A recording made without an account is deleted 60 days after it was created. Nothing to do on your side; the link simply stops working.
- You can delete a recording at any time, from the extension's history or from the video's own page. The link stops working immediately, and the files are removed from our storage — including every stored version of them.
- Uninstalling the extension removes the device identifier and the history kept on your machine. It does not delete recordings already uploaded: delete those first if that is what you want.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access to your data, its correction, its deletion, a copy of it in a portable format, or object to its processing. Because Cliipyy works without an account, the practical answer to most of these is in your hands: the extension's history is the list of what you created, and the delete button is final.
For anything else, write to privacy@cliipyy.com — please include the link to the video concerned, since it is what identifies it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
The legal basis for processing is the performance of the service you asked for (hosting and sharing your recording), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and free from abuse. Capture of your screen, microphone and camera additionally relies on the permission you grant your browser, which you can withdraw at any time.
9. Children
Cliipyy is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Delivering any new feature that handles your data — accounts, transcription, payment — means updating this page first.
